Wakulla County values its natural and historical resources and can now refer visitors to Certified Guides through a Green Guide Certification Program offered by Tallahassee Community College’s Wakulla Center. Certified Green Guides offer tours which may include hiking, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, bird-watching, biking, and historical sites.
Certified Green Guides provide a special level of quality to those who visit Wakulla as an Ecotourism Destination. The Guides adhere to an ethical code which emphasizes visitor safety and “leave no trace” principles. They have completed all the requirements for a 90 hour course which includes customer service, natural ecosystems and native species, birding and other local wildlife, and local history, geology and archeology.
